My May, 2009, trip to Greece was a little different than all my previous trips to Europe. Unfortunately, Liz couldn't travel at that time, so my junior high school friend Sandy Jacquet came with me and we had a wonderful time!
We spent 19 days split between mainland Greece, Santorinni and Crete. Some of our pictures and stories will soon be on the locations page.
This September (2010) I will be traveling with 2 other friends, Lyn and her sister Ruth to central Italy, which still holds top place for my favorite european destination! We'll fly into Rome, stay for 5 days, head north to Marciano della Chiana where we'll be staying in a small villa in an organic olive grove for 6 days and then finish our trip in Florence with a 7 day stay in an apartment in the city center.
Liz, Sandy, Lyn, Ruth and I hope you enjoy our travel stories and find our tips useful in your own travels. I hope to have DVDs available for purchase that will provide a perspective on the "nuts and bolts" of traveling in selected european cities. Questions like "how do I actually get from the Milan Central train station to the Malpensa Airport?" and "how do I buy tickets for the Vienna subway?" will be answered by video demonstration.(See www.viennaunderground.eu for a great Vienna subway overview!) You'll feel like you've already been there when you arrive for the first time!
We'll be mentioning the travel sites we've found most useful in planning our trips (one of our favorites is www.tripadvisor.com) and let you know which hotels, B&Bs and apartments got top billing during our stays in various cities.
